Glaucoma: still a challenge of modern ophthalmology
Glaucoma is a chronic and progressive disease of the optic nerve and one of the leading causes of irreversible vision loss in the world, which is why it represents one of the key challenges of modern ophthalmology. Despite significant progress in diagnostic and therapeutic options, early detection and optimal treatment of glaucoma still require a high level of expertise, continuous education and a multidisciplinary approach.
The second regional glaucoma symposium with international participation, which will be held in Sarajevo, will be dedicated to the modern approach to glaucoma in 2026, with a focus on clinical examination, early diagnosis, monitoring of disease progression and current therapeutic strategies offered by modern medicine. Through lectures, panel discussions and the exchange of clinical experiences, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest recommendations and practices in the treatment of glaucoma.
It is a special honor for us to organize this professional meeting on the occasion of marking 100 years of continuous ophthalmological tradition of the "Dr. Sefić" Polyclinic. We celebrate this significant anniversary by gathering eminent glaucoma leaders from Europe and the world, as well as leading experts from the region, with the aim of strengthening regional and international professional cooperation.
The symposium also represents the continuation of a hundred-year family tradition of dedication to ophthalmology, knowledge and continuous medical education, the values on which Polyclinic "Dr. Sefić", as the organizer of this event, bases its professional identity and daily work.
In celebration of this extraordinary anniversary, participation in the symposium is free of charge, with mandatory prior registration. The meeting will be scored by the Sarajevo Canton Medical Chamber, with 10 points for lecturers and 5 points for participants.
